Absence makes the heart grow fonder?

A second full day at home, and I still haven't started getting to bed early, despite everyone wanting me to. In fact, I've been getting to bed later than I would at Uni, and I blame this completely on Mahou Sensei Negima, an anime with all the charm, humour and entrancing personalities of Love Hina. But without the fanservice? Not that I minded the fanservice, jokey as it was ^^...

So the point is that I completely love this series <3

Now on to the boring part:

Today I got up late and didn't really do much. Matthew called mid-afternoon, and then in the evening it was time to play at being grown-ups.

I am, of course, refering to presentation evening, which I donned smart clothes for...* I got my A-Level certificates, plus two awards:

Firstly, I'm a Norfolk County Scholor, one of 26 in my year. It basically means that I got good A-Level results - I think you needed 2 A's and a B, or something like that...
Secondly, I won the James Charles/St. John's College, Cambridge, Prize. Not a clue what it's all about, or even what I did to earn it, as I forgot to ask somebody... I got £20 in book tokens, though, so t'was pretty groovy. But what to buy? I'd really like a copy of The Art of Intrusion: The Real Stories Behind the Exploits of Hackers, Intruders and Deceivers, but it would be a bit of a rip-off in a bookshop... Maybe some manga? Viv recommended The One I Love, by Clamp, to me, knowing perfectly well how much I love romantic stuff <3

I guess we'll have to see what I can find in town, hmm?

So yeah, aside aside, I got home and chatted to Claire for a bit about a program that I want to write: A Random Story Generator.

The idea is quite simple, the program has a list of names of characters, which it randomises into various roles, such as Main Character, Love Interest, Close Friend, Work Friend and Rival. It then tells a story about said characters by picking a random path through a determined tree of scenes, each scene having a positive or negative follow-up. And darn it, but I want, maybe even need to write this program! The only trouble is going to be writing enough scenes so that the story you get out would be at least slightly surprising... So I guess I'm going to need volunteers, if I get this project off the ground ^^... :)

My friends, I leave you with this warning: attempting to run a BitTorrent client on a small network with limited bandwidth can be painful... BT connects fine, but nothing else connects at all, not even web browsers... As I said, painful! It also takes a minute or so for the network activity to stop after you pause your downloads... Ah well, this is a lesson learnt. Nick wants me to download some stuff, but I think it'll have to wait until I get back to Uni - ah, teh sillyness of it all...

Noticed my new icon?

*Head's speech was at most 25 minutes - a new record for shortest, surely?! Our old head made it about 40 mins, and once topped an hour...
